Is The Inn on the Mile worth it? Our review
The hotel is perfect if you like to be at the heart of the city’s bustle, as its location on the Royal Mile makes access to Old Town’s various attractions very easy on foot. In our opinion, this is one of the best hotels in the city, thanks to its location, spacious, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. We highly recommend this establishment for a stay in Scotland’s capital.

Decoration and atmosphere
The Inn on the Mile is both an elegant boutique hotel and a lively pub, housed in a former bank, the British Linen Bank. We really liked the atmosphere of the place, where history is still present, thanks to the vertical structure of the building. The décor is sober and chic in the rooms, and plays with touches of industrial design in the pub. The mix offers a warm setting, an atmosphere as sophisticated as it is friendly.

The room
Our room was practical, comfortable and elegant, with high ceilings. We particularly appreciated its understated chic and the view of the Royal Mile. The high windows kept the room bright, despite the weather.

In the room we found a kettle, coffee machine and other practical equipment. Access was by stairs, so it’s best not to be too heavy.

The bathroom
In our bedroom, the bathroom featured a beautiful shower and a large designer sink. A window let in natural light.

We found hygiene products from the Scottish cosmetics brand ArranAfter the Rain line. There was also a bathrobe, large and practical.

Equipment and common areas
The Inn on the Mile Hotel (or should we say pub) has a terrace directly on the Royal Mile. This outdoor space allows guests to enjoy a meal or a drink while taking in the bustle of this famous thoroughfare.

The restoration
The RDC at Inn on the Mile is a pub where we found everything that makes traditional Scottish pub food so charming: fish & chips, haggis, burgers, nachos, grills and sandwiches. And, of course, beers, whiskies and cocktails. In the evenings, the pub comes alive with live music.

History
The building was constructed in 1923 to house the British Linen Bank. It retains its historic configuration, rising like an imposing tower, or temple, between South Bridge and Niddry Street.
