Our opinion:<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, it&#8217;s well worth a visit. This unique institution combines a <strong>historic concert hall<\/strong>, the oldest in Scotland. The<strong>acoustics are exceptional<\/strong> and the architecture fluid and elegant, all in an authentic 18th-century setting. This historic hall hosted concerts by St Cecilia&#8217;s Society, Scotland&#8217;s oldest musical society. You&#8217;ll find spinet, harpsichord and clavichord instruments from the 16th to the 19th centuries. We were particularly impressed by the beautifully decorated <strong>Ruckers harpsichords<\/strong>. This concert hall, <strong>built in 1763<\/strong> and now renovated, retains its <strong>exceptional acoustics<\/strong>, which made it an ideal venue for chamber music concerts. We were able to admire the elegance of this oval hall, which continues to host <strong>contemporary concerts<\/strong>, perpetuating its original musical vocation in a preserved historic setting.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Scotland\/Edinburgh\/St-Cecilias-Hall-Music-Museum\/i-4CfbPpB\/0\/KWj5sL4bLzpHPM7WLTNvnbHDp9PcSdh7hNWMmPsBf\/L\/sypert-concert-room-close-up-st-cecilia-hall-museum-L.jpg\" alt=\"St Cecilia's Hall &amp;amp; Music Museum - Sypert Concert Room\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Understanding the evolution of musical instruments over the centuries<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Wolfson Gallery: winds, strings and percussion in chronological order<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Wolfson Gallery took us on a <strong>journey through the history of musical instruments<\/strong>. The instruments are displayed <strong>chronologically<\/strong>. We appreciated this approach, which enabled us to follow the evolution of instrument-making techniques and musical tastes over the centuries. Don&#8217;t miss the traditional <strong>Scottish bagpipes<\/strong>, as well as a remarkable <strong>collection of drums<\/strong> and percussion instruments.   <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Scotland\/Edinburgh\/St-Cecilias-Hall-Music-Museum\/i-vJnPWLG\/0\/K6KhH5V4fMktTwDGhZB6246kvLMdbgqpgdt8s8hD4\/L\/bagpipes-st-cecilia-hall-museum-L.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exhibition also features rarer instruments such as an enormous <strong>snake double bass,<\/strong> a wind instrument with sinuous shapes that intrigued us greatly.
