We enjoyed the diversity of its <strong>36 galleries<\/strong> spread over 7 floors. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why visit the National Museum of Scotland<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is the National Museum of Scotland worth it? Our opinion:<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, the National Museum of Scotland is definitely worth a visit. We were impressed by the <strong>richness of its collections<\/strong>, which cover everything from <strong>natural science and technology to world cultures and Scottish history<\/strong>. The building&#8217;s remarkable architecture blends Victorian style with contemporary extensions. The National Museum of Scotland is, in our opinion, one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/scotland-lovers.com\/en\/best-things-to-do-edinburgh-visit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">best things to do in Edinburgh<\/a>!   <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Scotland\/Edinburgh\/National-Museum-of-Scotland\/i-qVKNQsV\/0\/NGZw7cT7VdBgGgL44pcbbVB6STTf8QvW5435x73kw\/L\/national-museum-scotland-front-L.jpg\" alt=\"National Museum of Scotland - Outstanding collections\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why is the National Museum of Scotland famous?<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The museum is internationally renowned for a number of reasons:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Here you&#8217;ll find <strong>Dolly the sheep<\/strong>, the world&#8217;s first cloned mammal and now a global scientific icon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The collections relating to<strong>Scottish history<\/strong> are among the most comprehensive, with unique artifacts such as the reconstructed tomb of <strong>Mary Stuart<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The museum is also distinguished by its <strong>hybrid architecture<\/strong>. The Victorian building from 1866 and the modern extensions from 1998 create a stunning architectural ensemble on Chambers Street. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" which we&#8217;ll share with you later in this article, we loved it:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Grande Galerie<\/strong> and its magnificent glass roof, the architectural heart of the museum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Millennium Clock<\/strong> and its regular mechanical animations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>panoramic view from the<\/strong> 7th floor <strong>terrace<\/strong>, an unforgettable view of Edinburgh and its castle (even in the rain!).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The small space on the 3rd floor dedicated to visit<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We found that the National Museum of Scotland is a <strong>very busy<\/strong> museum. It&#8217;s always a bit crowded, especially on rainy days, which are relatively common in Edinburgh. This allows you to get an immediate feel for the building&#8217;s architecture. We then gradually climbed to the upper floors. We stayed for a while, despite the rain, contemplating the panorama and trying to identify the main monuments of Scotland&#8217;s capital. The castle perched on its volcanic rock was a hideout in the mist, helping us to rediscover the winding lanes of Old Town and, beyond, the geometric order of New Town.  <\/p>\n\n<figure
