Is the Eden Locke Hotel worth it? Our review
The Eden Locke Hotel is an establishment we highly recommend for a stay in Edinburgh. For us, it’s one of the best hotels in the city.
- Its proximity to must-see attractions such as Georgian House, the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery makes it an ideal choice for travellers keen to discover the city’s cultural heritage.
- What’s more, the variety of nearby restaurants means visitors can take full advantage of the local gastronomy.
- It’s not far from the touristy Old Town either.
Decoration and atmosphere
The ambience of the Eden Locke Hotel in Edinburgh is both warm and elegant, with a tropical touch that brings a sense of well-being and relaxation. Pastel colors and lush plants create asophisticated, soothing atmosphere, perfect for feeling at home away from home. The welcome is friendly, with attentive and helpful staff. A particularly good mood prevails here.
The room
Our room was a modern studio, warm, all soft colors, well designed and very pleasant. We particularly liked the space and light.
Amenities included a fully equipped kitchen, kettle, coffee maker and essentials.
The room itself, a little off the living room, wasn’t very big. It was, however, very comfortable, with everything you need for a quiet night’s sleep.

The bathroom
In our bedroom, the bathroom featured a large, extremely comfortable shower.
We found hygiene products from the Kinsey Apothecary cosmetics brand. There was also a large, comfortable bathrobe available for our use.

The breakfast
Breakfast at the Eden Locke Hotel is continental. You can enjoy local products such as granola with fresh fruit, croissants, pains au chocolat and pains aux raisins, as well as homemade pastries such as carrot cake, bread & butter pudding, banana bread, brownies and more.
We particularly appreciated the varied selection of sweet and savory products, as well as the excellent coffee, fruit juices and pastries at the Mayvn Cafe, where Edinburgh locals flock for breakfast.

How to get there
- To get to Edinburgh, flying is the most convenient option. Edinburgh Airport, just 13 km from the city center, is well served by many airlines.
- Once there, you have several options for getting to the city center: streetcar, bus or cab. In all cases, you’ll need between 25 and 35 minutes to reach the city center.
- We highly recommend renting a car if you want to explore the Edinburgh area. You’ll be free to explore the beautiful Scottish countryside and historic sites around the city.

Parking
Parking spaces are available in the streets around the hotel. During our stay, we found that the spaces in front of the hotel were often available, except in the evening because of the many restaurants and bars in the area.
For people with reduced mobility
The upper floors are accessible by elevator. However, we didn’t see any special facilities. It’s best to check with hotel management before booking. More details on the official website here.
