Es ist eine sehr kurze Stra\u00dfe, \u00fcber die Sie zum Holyrood House gelangen. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Holyrood House<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Holyrood House ist die <strong>offizielle Residenz von K\u00f6nig Karl III.<\/strong> in Schottland und ein Muss f\u00fcr jeden Besucher in Edinburgh. Seine Mauern haben viele schottische K\u00f6niginnen und K\u00f6nige gesehen, darunter die ber\u00fchmte <strong>Maria Stuart<\/strong>. Sie waren auch Schauplatz einer Reihe von Morden, darunter der Mord an ihrem G\u00fcnstling David Riccio. Eine makabre Verkettung von Ereignissen, die der K\u00f6nigin von Schottland das Leben kostete.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eine <strong>Audiof\u00fchrung<\/strong> zeigte uns die k\u00f6niglichen Gem\u00e4cher, die Ruinen von <strong>Holyrood Abbey<\/strong> (sehr romantisch) und die weitl\u00e4ufigen G\u00e4rten am Fu\u00dfe von<strong>Arthur&#8217;s Seat<\/strong>. Der Palast wird von Besuchern gest\u00fcrmt. Die Busse der Reiseveranstalter sind die ersten, die bedient werden, sobald sie \u00f6ffnen. Am besten kommen Sie ein oder zwei Stunden sp\u00e4ter. Die Kurven aus Glas und Stahl wurden von dem katalanischen Architekten<strong> Enric Miralles<\/strong> entworfen und sollen an die umliegenden H\u00fcgel erinnern. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Obwohl der Charme des Geb\u00e4udes angeblich im Inneren am gr\u00f6\u00dften ist, zogen wir es vor, das gute Wetter an unserem Besuchstag zu nutzen, um durch die <strong>G\u00e4rten<\/strong> zu schlendern, die sich mit den Wasserspielen auf <strong>Horse Wynd<\/strong> fortsetzen. Wenn Sie die Architektur des Geb\u00e4udes erkunden m\u00f6chten, k\u00f6nnen Sie an einer <strong>F\u00fchrung<\/strong> teilnehmen, um mehr \u00fcber seine Symbolik zu erfahren, durch die steilen Korridore zu gehen und das House of Debates zu betreten. Canongate<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Canongate erreicht die alten Stadttore vom Kreisverkehr vor dem Holyrood House am Ende von Abbey Strand.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clarinda&#8217;s Tea Room<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Es ist bereits Zeit f\u00fcr eine Pause, auch wenn die Teezeit noch weit entfernt ist. Wir st\u00fcrzten uns auf dieses <strong>raumzeitliche Geschmackserlebnis<\/strong>, das uns in die <strong>viktorianische<\/strong> Zeit zur\u00fcckversetzte. Das Clarinda&#8217;s sieht aus wie ein Puppenhaus aus dem <strong>19. Jahrhundert<\/strong>, mit gebl\u00fcmten Tischdecken und Wandteppichen, zartem Porzellan, antiken M\u00f6beln und Spitzendeckchen.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hier k\u00f6nnen Sie weiche Scones, hausgemachte Kuchen und eine ganze Sammlung von Teesorten genie\u00dfen. <strong>Clarinda<\/strong> war die Muse des schottischen Dichters <strong>Robert Burns<\/strong>. Ihr Briefwechsel wurde mehrfach ver\u00f6ffentlicht. Liebhaber von Literatur und Poesie kommen hier auf ihre Kosten, denn die Royal Mile ist mit zahlreichen Hinweisen auf einheimische Schriftsteller \u00fcbers\u00e4t. Dunbar&#8217;s Close ist ein <strong>Garten<\/strong>. Und was f\u00fcr ein Garten! Jahrhundert inspiriert, gefielen uns die majest\u00e4tischen B\u00e4ume, die <strong>geometrischen Buchsbaumwege<\/strong> und die Blumenbeete.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Einige B\u00e4nke laden zum Verweilen ein. Wir h\u00e4tten hier stundenlang verweilen k\u00f6nnen, wenn uns nicht ein Regenschauer gezwungen h\u00e4tte, unsere Erkundung der Royal Mile fortzusetzen. Wir behalten den Dunbar&#8217;s Close Garden in Erinnerung, weil er eine <strong>intime Eleganz<\/strong> ausstrahlt, weit weg vom Trubel der Stadt, zur Freude der neugierigen Spazierg\u00e4nger, die wir sind.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Scotland\/Edinburgh\/Ville\/i-sPGjBS5\/0\/M6CVrFBcvFLPdDh3zz7LJTJWRhMprBgLhwVZQz6Gb\/L\/edinburgh_dunbar_close_garden-L.jpg\" alt=\"Edinburgh - Royal Mile - Dunbar's Close Garden\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Canongate Kirkyard und das Grab von David Riccio<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rund um die <strong>Canongate Kirk<\/strong> Kirche erstreckt sich ein weiterer gr\u00fcner Bereich, der Canongate Kirkyard. Es ist ein sehr malerischer Friedhof, auf dem wir <strong>alte Grabsteine<\/strong> mit symbolischen Motiven entdecken konnten. Die B\u00e4ume und die alten dunklen H\u00e4userw\u00e4nde ringsum verleihen dem Spaziergang eine <strong>sehr romantische<\/strong> Atmosph\u00e4re.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Scotland\/Edinburgh\/Ville\/i-L9Lj23r\/0\/NchLwtgDK38T5PZdBPDWwX8JFkR6v3bJ6xmzm7dQd\/L\/edinburgh_canongate_kirkyard-L.jpg\" alt=\"Edinburgh - Royal Mile - Canongate Kirkyard\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unter den Gr\u00e4bern entdeckten wir das <strong>Grab von David Riccio<\/strong>. Er wurde 1566 in Holyrood House unter dramatischen Umst\u00e4nden ermordet und war der Sekret\u00e4r und <strong>G\u00fcnstling von Maria Stuart<\/strong>. Er bleibt eine wichtige Figur in der schottischen Geschichte. Das Grab ist bescheiden und liegt etwas abseits an der Kirchenmauer. Im Inneren befindet sich eine Sammlung von Objekten, die mit der Vergangenheit Edinburghs vom Mittelalter bis heute verbunden sind. Sie zieht den Blick sofort auf dieses dunkle und beeindruckende Geb\u00e4ude. Das Geb\u00e4ude war fr\u00fcher ein Verwaltungsgeb\u00e4ude, ein Gericht und ein Gef\u00e4ngnis. Wir lernten hier die<strong>Sozialgeschichte<\/strong> von Edinburgh im Laufe der Jahrhunderte kennen. Das Geb\u00e4ude ist ein wenig veraltet, aber die Ausstellungen sind reichhaltig. Sie f\u00fchrten uns in den Alltag der unteren Klassen, von den mittelalterlichen Gilden bis zu den Arbeiterk\u00e4mpfen des 20. Es handelt sich um ein <strong>historisches Geb\u00e4ude<\/strong> aus dem Jahr 1923, das damals der Sitz der <strong>British Linen Bank<\/strong> war. Es gibt eine kleine Terrasse auf der breiten Treppe, ideal f\u00fcr eine Pause, wenn das Wetter es zul\u00e4sst. Diese Kapelle ist dem Orden der Distel gewidmet, der h\u00f6chsten Ehrenauszeichnung Schottlands.
